Potty Training
Potty training your puppy is about consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. The goal is to instill good habits and build a loving bond with your pet.
It typically takes 4-6 months for a puppy to be fully house trained, but some puppies may take up to year. I was lucky with my bully who at 9 weeks old was 99% potty trained, my mix breed was not but I had her potty trained in 3 days. Size can be a predictor. For instance, smaller breeds have smaller bladders and higher metabolisms and require more frequent trips outside. Your puppy's previous living conditions are another predictor. You may find that you need to help your puppy break old habits in order to establish more desirable ones.
And while you're training, don't worry if there are setbacks. As long as you continue a management program that includes taking puppy out at the first sign he needs to go and offering him rewards, he'll learn.
Basic Obedience
Mastering basic obedience commands is a vital part of being a responsible dog owner. These basic commands make navigating the relationship between animal and owner much easier and keep both you and your pet safe in emergency situations.
From an outsider's perspective, basic training can look either very simple or extremely difficult. Recognize that training can take a lot of work. Also recognize any dog can learn at least the most basic and necessary commands. Dog owners occasionally run into road blocks when training, don't become frustrated. By seeking assistance from a professional trainer it benefits first-time owners or individuals struggling with teaching commands or correcting problem behaviors. Don't ever hesitate to ask for help!
Training takes a lot of time and patience, the responsibility of pet ownership includes properly training and socializing your animal. Finally, dog ownership and even training should be fun! Don't be too serious and make sure both you and your pet have a good time so you will look forward to future sessions!
Intermediate
Wouldn't it be nice if your trained dog could stay in place while you walked into the other room for a few minutes? Or if he'd obediently remain by your side in a crowd? If your dog already knows basic cues, our Intermediate Education Course can help him achieve the same results in situations involving more distance, duration and distractions - this intermediate dog training course also covers new behaviors such as "heel," "wait" and "go to bed/place." Distraction is the name of the game with helping dog on his continuing education.
